The Apprenticeship Incentive Grant for Women pilot project is ending on March 31st, 2023. Apprentices whose first year or second year progression date occurs after March 31, 2023 MAY be eligible for the AIG-W, but you have to apply BEFORE March 31st, 2023.
To be eligible for the AIG-W, you must:
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person
- not be a high school student
- demonstrate registration and completion with acceptable provincial/territorial AIG-W supporting documents
- be registered with a provincial/territorial apprenticeship authority as an apprentice in an eligible designated Red Seal trade where women are underrepresented
- The following 5 designated Red Seal trades are not eligible for the AIG-W:
- Baker
- Cook
- Hairstylist
- Landscape-Horticulturist
- Parts Technician (Parts person)
- The following 5 designated Red Seal trades are not eligible for the AIG-W:
- self-identify as a woman
You can apply for the AIG-W if you meet the eligibility requirements and you are a:
- registered apprentice enrolled in adult learning classes
- registered apprentice taking professional development courses; or
- Quebec apprentice completing your vocational training
