The Journey to Success for Women Apprentices is a BCCWITT local impact project, as part of the larger national ConnectHER initiative–working to improve representation and address specific challenges faced by women who are already working in the trades. 

Our local project is specifically designed to support women apprentices in BC, through the delivery of free training and network building opportunities.

Participants in our program are connected to a community of peers and mentors as we work together to make the transition—from being a new apprentice through to becoming a certified journeywoman— more accessible and empowering.

Interested in joining our network?

If you’re a woman who is registered as an apprentice (at any level) in a maintenance or construction skilled trade, we’d love to connect with you!

By joining the BCCWITT ConnectHER community, you get access to a rich network of other women who are working their way through various stages of their apprenticeship, you can access free training (virtual and in-person learning opportunities that range from financial literacy seminars and leadership training to health and safety sessions), and you can attend in-person events in a number of rotating BC cities.

How it works

To ensure we can support women across the province, we connect all participants through our dedicated BCCWITT Slack channel…giving you easy access to ask for or provide support to other women on a similar journey.  

We ask that participants commit to at least five (or more) of our free virtual training sessions, as we collaborate with a range of experts to help build your skills, knowledge and confidence.

And we also hope you’ll be able to join us for some of our rotating in-person networking, training or social events!

The ConnectHER project has been funded by FanShawe College, as part of the federal government’s Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy: Women in the Skilled Trades Initiative–proudly working together to help make sure that women who have entered the trades are also supported as they continue advancing within them. The BCCWITT local impact project is currently funded until June 30th, 2025, with the possibility of extension.
